What changed since premarket

Meta’s Muse reached No. 1 in Apple’s free-app chart, Amazon blocked it from shopping, Republicans weighed a diesel export ban, Bob Michele bought government bonds, and Texas paused new data-center builds.

Main narratives

day change
01

Muse creates a platform-access split

Meta’s Muse reached No. 1 on Apple’s free-app chart, and Bloomberg linked the day’s Intel and AMD gains to reports that agent inference increases CPU demand. Amazon separately blocked Muse from shopping on its site, citing authorization, identification and credential-handling concerns. Shopify moved the other way by supporting Muse checkout through Shop Pay. The next evidence is retention and attributable checkout volume.

02

An export ban risks higher coastal diesel prices

Republicans are considering a diesel export ban after prices reached $6.51 per gallon. Rapidan Energy’s Bob McNally argued that a ban would raise foreign diesel prices, lift Northeast and West Coast prices that reference imports, push refiners to cut runs, and damage US investment credibility. The policy therefore carries a documented risk of worsening the coastal price problem it is meant to address.

03

Hike calls meet a government-bond buyer

BNP Paribas expects at least two more Fed hikes, and St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem said he prefers earlier, incremental increases. J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Bob Michele took the opposite market view: he called the bond selloff maximum pain and said he is buying US, Japanese and Australian government bonds. The disagreement centers on whether inflation pressure or economic limits dominate from current yields.

04

Power contracts do not remove political risk

Texas’s governor announced a moratorium on new data-center builds amid concern over jobs, neighborhoods, transparency and power costs. A separate Florida utility case raised the possibility that ratepayers could absorb data-center costs, while NUAI disclosed a 20-year PPA for up to 207 megawatts with a Vistra affiliate. Together, the findings distinguish contracted power from unresolved political and cost-allocation risk.

Themes of the session

?
Z-score shows how far this edition's mention count is above or below the theme's own average across 20 comparable earlier editions. +2.7σ means mentions are 2.7 standard deviations above that average — simply, the theme is being mentioned much more often than usual. It measures attention, not bullishness or expected return. Themes need at least 8 posts; gold begins at +2σ, and σ is hidden when history is too thin.

Government bonds at maximum pain

Bob Michele is buying US, Japanese and Australian government bonds as he judges the long end to be stabilizing near maximum pain.
