Marvell's all-stock Lumentum deal reprices AI optics, but the premium floats with Marvell's stock

Marvell agreed to an all-stock Lumentum deal at 4.5 Marvell shares per Lumentum share, a 23.9% premium to the October 28 reference; ParadisLabs puts the equity value at $102.5B, now about $80B as Marvell fell 22%. The exchange value is roughly $884 per Lumentum share, below the undisturbed $914. A supply-chain post argues independent Western laser suppliers become more strategically valuable; Jukan reads Lumentum's acceptance as AI-cycle doubt.

02

Oracle's $20B raise makes AI capex a credit test, not just an earnings story

Oracle filed a mixed shelf, launched a $10B six-part bond sale and filed a plan for a $10B stock offering, days after guiding to only $20B of additional capital through FY2030. Shares fell about 5% and are more than halved from the high; Moody's affirmed Baa2 with a negative outlook. Alphabet and Meta are also tapping debt markets, while Anthropic's $895B commitments widen the AI-financing question.

03

Record de-grossing frames the AI selloff as a positioning flush, but semis still need to prove a bottom

A post citing Morgan Stanley data says hedge-fund de-grossing was the largest in a decade, topping 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022, with Goldman's prime desk seeing about $20B of selling over two weeks. Tom Lee cites improving breadth and positioning as bottom signals; Mike Wilson still expects semis to fall another 10-15% by mid-November.

04

Oil's Iran-diplomacy slide is relief for risk assets, not for jet-fuel cracks or airline margins

WTI fell below $100 and Brent to about $106 on reports Washington may give Iran diplomacy more time, with Hormuz reopening floated. The relief is headline-driven. Ryanair's first-half profit fell about 15% to €2.15B as fuel costs rose and average fares fell 4%; it is only about 25% hedged for the coming year and warns fares could rise up to 20% in 2027. Refining margins remain the squeeze point.

CIFR

mkfilko says he bought CIFR after the Q3 update, arguing positive earnings and sentiment outweigh the revenue miss. The quarter showed first HPC lease revenue at Black Pearl and a Barber Lake extension lifting contracted revenue to $9.1B, with a 5.9 GW pipeline.

NBIS

u/Smart_Money_HQ is slowly adding NBIS as longer-term AI exposure while preferring QQQ and trimming XLF. Daniel Koss separately notes Aramco closed a $2.6B deal for 49% of Humain, strengthening the partner behind Nebius's planned Saudi capacity.

Semis need one more flush

Mike Wilson calls the correction late-stage but expects another index-level decline, higher volatility and a further 10-15% semis drop by mid-November before a durable bottom. He favors quality, asset-light names and treats clearing-event selloffs as entry points.

LITE/MRVL deal premium

ParadisLabs calculates LITE's deal premium has shrunk to about 5% and needs MRVL above roughly $203 to restore any premium over the undisturbed price. Kaizen flags that the $115B headline value floats with Marvell stock, so LITE holders own Marvell beta until close.

Oracle backlog concentration

oguzerkan argues Oracle's debt is not the scariest part; OpenAI makes up more than half the backlog, which he calls scary compared with Amazon's backlog. The $20B equity-and-debt raise and 5% drop sharpen dilution and credit concerns.

Equity risk-off

Good Alexander says he fully liquidated all stock positions; silver is his largest position, followed by Monero and Bitcoin, and he holds a short S&P 500 position. That is an explicit risk-off stance.
