01

SemiAnalysis says financing, not chips, is becoming the binding constraint on the AI buildout

SemiAnalysis argues the constraint on the AI buildout is shifting from chips and data centers to financing, and that Nvidia's backstop capacity and current lender tools may not cover it. Morgan Stanley warns that Oracle data-center delays could crush its debt, per Zero Hedge. @minnvestor notes Alphabet's long-term debt has grown ninefold since end-2024 while buybacks stopped. Peter Orszag calls debt-financed AI infrastructure financially fragile.

02

Lumentum's CEO named laser chips as the biggest bottleneck, with some products undershipped by 70% next year

Lumentum CEO Michael Hurlston said, per @pequityresearch, that some products are undershipped by 30% into 2028 and others by 70% next year, that laser chips are the biggest bottleneck, and that a Chinese transceiver ban would benefit Lumentum. Morgan Stanley says Coherent is being considered as a key fiber-kit supplier to Nvidia for Rubin NVL576. Convequity, quoted by @zephyr_z9, stayed out of Lumentum, saying its AI-optics exposure depends on open design choices.

03

AST SpaceMobile sold off on SpaceX's $8 billion spectrum deal as Caesar Capital added

AST SpaceMobile took a massive hit after SpaceX's $8 billion spectrum deal, per @moninvestor, and @temple_eight said it came within a hair of a $50 downside target. Caesar Capital increased its position at $48.68, cutting its average cost to $63. @michaelsikand calls the selloff irrational. Verizon lost roughly $18 billion in market value, per @unusual_whales, and Bloomberg reports Verizon and AT&T bonds weakened.

04

TheValueist sizes Russia's 4.8 million-ton diesel pledge at about 35.8 million barrels, roughly nine days of US demand

Oil dropped after Trump said Putin agreed to release some diesel into the global market, per Zero Hedge. TheValueist converts the 4.8 million-ton pledge into about 35.8 million barrels, roughly nine days of US diesel demand and about 45 days of Russia's normal export flow. TheValueist puts current Russian diesel exports near 140,000-150,000 barrels a day, with producer exports banned through October 31.
