The OpenAI revenue scare resolved into a financing test: Firmus pulled its listing

OpenAI's net run-rate near $50 billion, versus the $70 billion figure that circulated, drove the selloff; Bloomberg reports OpenAI expects at least $70 billion annualized by year-end at a $1.4 trillion valuation. The sharper signal is financing: Nvidia-backed Firmus shelved its Australian IPO, bears question Oracle's OpenAI-dependent backlog, and bubbleboi floats an Nvidia revenue-miss short. Rental prices for older GPUs have held near April 2025 levels, undercutting the rapid-depreciation case.

02

Brazil's right-leaning Congress opens a reform window as the real rallies about 4%

Market Makers read first-round results as a rightward shift: the offshore dollar quote against the real fell about 4% versus the prior close, PL was projected to become the largest bloc in both chambers, and conservative-aligned candidates won most governor contests. The panel sees a reform window if the opposition wins the runoff but warns a Congress without an aligned executive drifts toward expansionary legislation.

Memory supply is locking into multi-year contracts as DRAM prices accelerate

Korean media report Samsung locked long-term agreements covering 75–80% of next year's memory supply, including HBM, with Nvidia, Google and Microsoft, while Micron customers committed about $32 billion. Counterpoint doubled its Q3 DRAM price forecast to a 10–20% sequential rise, and AMD says Samsung is the first HBM4 supplier for its MI455X. The caveat: SK hynix's smaller measured ASP gain shows mix decides who captures the next leg.

04

Data-center grid costs are shifting onto hyperscalers as local opposition builds

Duke Energy, North Carolina's Public Staff and Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft proposed a settlement requiring nonrefundable upfront payments for customer-specific grid facilities and deposits or security for shared upgrades, subject to utility-commission approval. Local resistance is spreading — Reuters documents opposition from Virginia to India — and a Florida gubernatorial candidate wants a temporary data-center construction moratorium.
