ASML's record quarter shows lithography demand outrunning supply, but semis traded it as a warning.

ASML posted record Q3 sales of €11.7B at a 57.5% gross margin, with customers expressing interest in 2029 and 2030 orders and the CEO expressing confidence the supply chain can handle more than 30% growth in 2028. An analyst highlights long-term contract liabilities - customer cash for undelivered machines - as the cleanest order-book read left. Semis ignored it: SOXX headed for a seventh straight decline.

02

CoreWeave's credit is repricing faster than its equity story, making leveraged AI builders the AI trade's swing factor.

CoreWeave fell 14.9% and Nebius 9.7%, the steepest declines on the Nasdaq 100, after traders flagged CoreWeave's unsecured notes near 15% and a BofA survey in which 39% of managers named hyperscaler capex the likeliest source of a systemic credit event, with 30% expecting an AI capex cut within six months. Bulls answer that Nvidia will not let CoreWeave fail and are adding to Nebius.

03

GlobalFoundries buys manufacturing scale with Japan's capital, not its own balance sheet.

Japan will fund up to $21bn for two fabs at GlobalFoundries' Malta, New York campus, with GFS supplying technology, operations and customer relationships in exchange for fees and licensing, a US 4% equity stake, and Apple and Renesas as initial customers. The first ~$10bn fab targets 2029 operations and roughly 900,000 wafers a year; GFS is also reallocating $955m of CHIPS money to silicon photonics, SiGe and advanced packaging.

04

HBM4's packaging bottleneck hands memory share to Samsung while AI demand keeps tightening.

SK hynix still has not solved HBM4 back-end issues after a year, according to semiconductor analyst zephyr_z9, who notes the narrower inter-die gap cuts underfill flow roughly eightfold and expects Samsung to take the largest HBM share next year. Microsoft's Azure Maia 300 carries eight HBM4 stacks per chip from 2027, and Applied Materials reports leading-edge logic and DRAM utilization at 100%.

Semis dip playbook is on a leash

Traders holding memory and semis through the drawdown keep explicit exits: degentradinglsd holds SNDK, MU, NBIS and SOXL but plans to trim into any CPI-driven rally and cut if local lows break, while wild_randomness closed SOXL calls that went from +60% to -60% at the open.

Long-end rates: crowd is short, mechanics disputed

Andy Constan calls the 6%-yield and futures cheapest-to-deliver scare nonsense because skew already reflects it, while ces921 flags a 5.20% 10-year retest if core inflation ran hot and labubu_trader argues crowded bond bears leave the market exposed to a squeeze.

Leveraged AI builders: CoreWeave and Oracle

babyfolio has been bearish CoreWeave since 2025, citing $640M of quarterly net interest expense against $2.58B of revenue and stock comp at 142% of operating income before SBC; StockMarketNerd says its bonds trade like Viacom in the Bill Hwang era, and moninvestor expects a 2027 financing squeeze for capital-hungry builders.

SoFi - pre-earnings valuation anchor

A forensic r/ValueInvesting study argues SoFi is overvalued at roughly 2.15x tangible book with bought-not-earned book value and hidden credit losses, deriving a probability-weighted fair value of $11.46 ahead of Q3 earnings on Oct 27.
