What matters before the open

Four themes lead: hyperscaler nuclear contracting (Google-Constellation, Vistra, BWXT), rising global term premia (JGB 3.1%, US 30-year 5.70%), memory/HBM4 tightness, and a refined-products squeeze as Vitol flags 14 mbpd Middle East flows as critical to containing prices.

Main narratives

day change
01

Hyperscaler nuclear contracting keeps firm power scarce while new supply lags

Reports described Alphabet nearing a nuclear power agreement with Constellation: one put the contract at 890 MW, another at 3,590 MW, and Bloomberg said Google would pay roughly $3bn, with CEG up 7% premarket. The DOE offered Vistra up to $4.2bn for nuclear uprates, and BWXT's BANR reactor was selected for a New Brunswick transportable plant. NextEra's $67bn bid for Dominion faces Virginia political opposition, so permitting and state politics, not demand, gate delivery.

02

Japan's JGB repricing and French fiscal stress keep the global term premium rising

Japan raised its 10-year JGB coupon to 3.1%, the highest in about 30 years, while US 10- and 30-year yields printed 5.34% and 5.70%, highest since 2002. Shuli Ren said Japan owns about 5% of French government bonds and Japanese investors will likely keep selling them gradually; Dalio warned China and Japan could pull back from Treasuries; Bianco argues 5.5% yields imply roughly 5% annual bond returns.

03

Memory is the tightest link in AI hardware, with RAM prices now rising faster than any GPU

Nebius's October price list raised RAM 41%, more than any accelerator, while Bernstein data cited by pequityresearch showed DRAM and NAND ASPs up 282% and 396% year over year on slightly falling unit volumes. Mirae expects 2028 tighter than 2027 with 2027 volumes already committed; a J.P. Morgan note cited by ren_stocks put prepayments at $32bn and contracted backlog at $150bn. HBM4 supply is unstable, with one vendor pausing 8-high samples.

04

Crude is softening while refined products stay the binding constraint, with Vitol pricing a $200 tail

Aramco cut Arab Light for Asian buyers to a six-year low and Brent traded near $100.32 as Hormuz flows recovered. Vitol's CEO said 12mbpd of crude and 2mbpd of products left the Middle East over the past week to ten days, that 14mbpd is crucial to contain prices, and that without it oil could reach $200; he said the crude crisis has become a refined-products and shipping crisis.

Brun (BRUN): holder keeps accumulating on claimed ARR and backlog growth

mkfilko writes that conviction remains high and he is accumulating more shares on red days, citing ARR growing from $30mn to $400mn between 2025 and 2026, Nvidia Exemplar Cloud certification alongside CoreWeave and Nebius, a Dell financing partnership, 253MW of accessible power and a 10x backlog increase.

Cameco (CCJ): a fresh buy on the Westinghouse IPO catalyst

An r/UraniumSqueeze commenter disclosed buying Cameco, citing a planned Westinghouse IPO in Q4/Q1 that would bring cash for future transactions and M&A and a 2026 PE around 20x; a second commenter frames Cameco as the relative-quality name because most peers are 'incompetent or have other serious problems'.

Rentokil (RTO): CEO and board buy a cluster near the lows

New CEO Mike Duffy, chair Therese Esperdy and multiple board members executed coordinated open-market buys near $23-24 per ADS, alongside a 13-15x forward multiple versus peer Rollins above 30x and a selloff widely attributed to Terminix integration friction rather than a broken model.

Duration (TLT): the yield-return math versus the debt-cycle warning

Bianco's relationship between yield and subsequent return (R-squared 0.85 since 1914) implies roughly 5% annual bond returns over the next decade from 5.5% yields, while Dalio warns a US debt crisis within three years as China and Japan pull back and Campbell shows the move is real rates, not inflation. What would change the view: auctions clearing poorly or 10-year yields breaking below 5%.

Nebius (NBIS): capacity delivery is the swing factor, not order flow

Bulls point to 150%+ year-to-date outperformance, a debated $15bn consensus ARR and pre-planned insider sales being misread as a signal; the bear case argues the constraint is energizing gigawatts of capacity rather than finding customers. What would change the view: disclosed energized capacity per quarter and a Q3 guidance beat.

Cerebras (CBRS): a disclosed short on revenue quality and residual risk

Good Alexander says he is short, arguing OpenAI does not buy the chips but leases capacity through Cerebras's cloud on a three-year deal, so Cerebras owns the hardware and the capex, the anchor customer is also a competitor, and open-weight pricing already compares unfavourably with Groq.
