What changed since premarket

Nvidia’s supply-backed outlook keeps AI demand intact, but financing and permits cap the buildout. Memory scarcity is spreading, software is separating into winners and laggards, and a divided Fed keeps duration exposed.

Main narratives

day change
01

Nvidia proved demand; financing and permits set the ceiling

Nvidia’s first year-ahead guide called for 70% growth while supply commitments jumped from $119 billion to $279 billion. Yet hyperscalers may burn roughly $100 billion of free cash flow next year, bank capacity is tightening, and community opposition is delaying sites. Demand is visible; the harder question is which projects secure power, permits and durable financing.

02

Scarcity is broadening, but high prices may hide weak units

NAND pricing is near a ten-year high, enterprise SSD supply is tight and Seagate says most nearline exabytes are allocated through 2028. But one storage vendor’s product revenue rose while system units fell, and Nvidia’s NVHBM strategy could reduce supplier differentiation. Contract coverage and pricing remain strong; unit elasticity and architecture control are the counterweights.

03

AI is strengthening platforms, but earnings quality still matters

Salesforce’s Anthropic partnership and Agentforce traction argue against a blanket SaaS collapse: systems of record can become control planes for enterprise agents. The caution is accounting quality. A Reddit contributor notes that much of Salesforce’s GAAP EPS beat came from a $2.6 billion unrealized Anthropic gain, so operating growth and cash conversion deserve more weight than headline profit.

04

Inflation relief has not settled the rate path

Stephen Miran argues measurement quirks overstate core PCE by about 70 basis points, while Beth Hammack says policy is not restrictive and the Fed should act now. Fiscal deficits still pressure long yields, and Treasury buybacks may blur the signal the Fed reads from bonds. The near-term inflation debate and the structural duration problem are moving on different tracks.

Themes of the session

?
Z-score shows how far this edition's mention count is above or below the theme's own average across 20 comparable earlier editions. +2.7σ means mentions are 2.7 standard deviations above that average — simply, the theme is being mentioned much more often than usual. It measures attention, not bullishness or expected return. Themes need at least 8 posts; gold begins at +2σ, and σ is hidden when history is too thin.
