Bond buybacks can change timing, not the fiscal arithmetic
Treasury plans to buy longer-dated bonds may create temporary demand, but multiple bond-market voices argue the program cannot overcome deficits, inflation risk and rising term premium. That matters because a structurally higher long end competes with equities and keeps duration pressure alive even if the first buyback operation produces a short rally.
