What changed since premarket

Nvidia added $150bn to buybacks and launched agent-safety tools; Meta's enterprise AI platform hit software shares; long-end yields at 19-year highs and oil near $105 pressured equities; AI power equipment stayed a sellers' market.

Main narratives

day change
01

Nvidia's record buyback and agent-safety push deepen its platform bid

Nvidia added $150 billion to its buyback, taking total authorization to $235 billion through fiscal 2028, and introduced an open agent-safety platform with more than 100 partners; OpenAI was not listed. Management describes minimal agent rights, sandboxing and monitoring. Bulls see cash-return confidence; skeptics, including Reddit holders, call the buyback defensive against vendor-financing fragility.

02

Meta's enterprise AI entry puts software multiples on the defensive

Meta is starting a business selling AI tools to enterprises and tapped MongoDB's CEO to lead it, bundling Muse, business agents and coding tools; MongoDB fell 18% and IGV dropped over 2.5%. No pricing or enterprise customers were disclosed. The stated aim is to monetize more than $100 billion of AI infrastructure spending; bears call it 'SaaS apocalypse, part 2'.

03

AI's binding constraint is shifting from chips to power and grid

Morgan Stanley says power equipment is a sellers' market, with GE Vernova contracting turbines for 2031-32 and on-site power a very large market by 2030. Morgan Stanley models US data-center IT power demand rising from 9.2 GW in 2025 to nearly 79 GW by 2029; Bernstein sees roughly 19% annual growth to 1,570 TWh by 2032. Grid lead times remain years long.

04

Oil-driven yields at 19-year highs are the tape's dominant constraint

The 10-year Treasury yield reached 5.23-5.27%, its highest since 2007, and the 30-year hit 5.57% as oil stayed near $105 and Trump rejected Iran's Hormuz proposal. WTI's one-month correlation with the 10-year reached 0.96. Treasury executed only $4 billion of an announced $6 billion buyback, which JPMorgan's Bob Michele read as no cap on long-end yields.

Themes of the session

?
Z-score shows how far this edition's mention count is above or below the theme's own average across 20 comparable earlier editions. +2.7σ means mentions are 2.7 standard deviations above that average — simply, the theme is being mentioned much more often than usual. It measures attention, not bullishness or expected return. Themes need at least 8 posts; gold begins at +2σ, and σ is hidden when history is too thin.
