01

Meta launches Muse Wonder and Zuckerberg says Meta has reached the AI frontier

Meta launched Muse Wonder, claiming it beats OpenAI and Anthropic models on several benchmarks; per the FT, Zuckerberg rejected calls for an AI slowdown and signalled further spending. Meta shares rose as much as 4.7%. Citrini, after a beta test, says Meta has a real shot at small-business agents. Against that, Muse growth is slowing with retention trailing ChatGPT, and Oguz Erkan expects frontier models to become a commodity market.

02

Micron fell below $1,000 as CXMT shrank the DRAM cell; PhotonCap says CXMT's 4F² plan proves no cost advantage yet

Zerohedge reported Micron fell below $1,000 as CXMT shrank the DRAM cell; CXMT reportedly plans a 4F² server-memory product by end-2026. PhotonCap notes 4F² is a cell-area measure, about 33% less cell area than 6F² at the same F, and calls the plan unverified on yields or cost. Damnang says the reaction recalls the CXMT scare of June and July. Reddit split between Micron rebound bets and 'memory trap' calls.

03

Laser stocks fell 17.9% in a week while Damnang flagged Chinese CW laser oversupply

PhotonCap's Lasers/InP group fell 8.6% on the day and 17.9% over the week; Lumentum fell more than 9%, briefly below $1,000, three days after its CEO said capacity is sold out through early 2029. Damnang cites reports, consistent with his industry contacts, of a Chinese CW laser oversupply that could pressure global prices, and says VCSEL arrays could bypass the InP moat. Kawz cites Celestica's shrinking transceiver test windows.

04

Bank earnings start with JPMorgan, Goldman, Citi and Wells Fargo, and Goldman and Morgan Stanley have some explaining to do

JPMorgan, Goldman, Citi and Wells Fargo report first, with Bank of America and Morgan Stanley on Wednesday. Bloomberg's Wall Street correspondent expects a mixed bag: a capital-markets slowdown clouds Goldman and Morgan Stanley, and Bank of America's unrealized losses should rise. Separately, Bloomberg reports JPMorgan and Goldman are limiting exposure on a $5 billion loan sale for AI startup Volta Infrastructure as investors demand higher yields on risky AI-linked debt.

Z-score shows how far this edition's mention count is above or below the theme's own average across 20 comparable earlier editions. +2.7σ means mentions are 2.7 standard deviations above that average — simply, the theme is being mentioned much more often than usual. It measures attention, not bullishness or expected return. Themes need at least 8 posts; gold begins at +2σ, and σ is hidden when history is too thin.
