Beef processors losing money; Tyson struggling
US beef processors have been losing money on every head since early 2024 because cattle costs are so high; Tyson, JBS and Cargill have pulled back capacity, and Tyson has closed plants, missed earnings and cut guidance. Beef operations are weak even though company-level profits remain supported by other segments such as chicken.
