Summary

Doomberg discusses the U.S. escalation against Venezuela, arguing the oil market is well supplied and not pricing a full-blown Caribbean war. He sees oil near a $55 equilibrium, cheap U.S. natural gas as supportive of AI/data-center growth, and a gas-turbine bottleneck. He also criticizes fusion as a distraction from fission, says uranium scarcity is overblown, and calls the Trump Media/TAE fusion merger a meme stock. Broader geopolitical topics include Russia-Ukraine, Iran-Israel, China/Taiwan, and Middle East competition.

  • U.S. strikes and naval pressure on Venezuela are described as acts of war but have not moved oil much.
  • Doomberg sees oil well supplied near a $55/bbl equilibrium; Venezuela's ~600k bpd exports are absorbable.
  • Cheap U.S. natural gas and a gas-turbine shortage are framed as key supports and bottlenecks for the AI/data-center buildout.
  • Nuclear fission is favored as a real energy solution, while fusion and uranium-scarcity narratives are dismissed.
  • The Trump Media/TAE Technologies merger is criticized as a meme-stock deal.
  • Geopolitical discussions cover Russia-Ukraine, Iran-Israel, China-Taiwan, and China's growing Middle East influence.
  • Doomberg also notes D.C. political fractures and a K-shaped U.S. economy.

Oil well supplied near $55 equilibrium
The global oil market is incredibly well supplied. Venezuela exports only about 600,000 bpd and even a disruption can be absorbed; China has been buying an extra million bpd for reserves; and geopolitical spikes from conflicts have faded quickly. Doomberg's equilibrium price is $55/bbl, current high-$50s levels are balanced, and below that supply would pull back, so he sees no major pivot higher or lower.

Cheap US natural gas supports AI buildout
US natural gas remains dirt cheap and abundant, with Henry Hub around $4.50/MMBtu and negative spot prices in the Permian. That cheap energy is bullish for US economic development and supports the AI/data-center buildout, even though the gas market itself is heavily supplied.

Gas turbine shortage is an AI bottleneck
The US data-center construction boom is creating a shortage of gas turbines needed to turn cheap natural gas into electricity, prompting innovations in alternative gas-to-power generation. This bottleneck is a key part of the AI power-supply chain.

Trump Media merger creates meme stock
Trump Media generates about $1 million in quarterly revenue and has about $40 million in quarterly operating expenses, yet it is merging with loss-making, VC-backed fusion company TAE Technologies. Doomberg views the deal as the creation of a meme stock and a cynical sign of the times.

Fusion is fake and decades away
Fusion is a fake solution to problems that do not exist; meltdown risk and waste are already manageable in fission, and commercial net-energy fusion is decades away. TAE admits it is at least 5-10 years from a net-energy reactor, so the Trump Media/TAE deal pushes a false narrative and distracts from fission.

Fission is the real nuclear solution
Fission already provides unlimited, reliable energy; modern reactor designs have all but eliminated meltdown risk and nuclear waste is manageable. China is building dozens of reactors and the US should do the same, with Trump trying to uncork a fission renaissance; fusion is a distraction.
