Summary

Christine Fang of PSE Trading reviews the April 9, 2025 tariff-pause rally and warns that volatility is likely to continue as U.S.-China negotiations unfold. She remains long-term bullish on Bitcoin because institutional adoption is turning it into a DCA/hold asset, but tactically prefers taking profits after the bounce. She is bearish Solana and Ethereum relative to Bitcoin, pitches Kaito as a favored altcoin, and expects shorting VC/celebrity coins to remain a valid strategy.

  • Tariff pause is seen as a local bottom, but more volatility is expected through April.
  • China is expected to negotiate but not smoothly; supply-chain shifts away from China are difficult and not fully priced.
  • Bitcoin is viewed as a risk asset correlated with equities, not a safe haven.
  • Long-term BTC thesis is institutional DCA/accumulation, with a potential $140K target if the S&P returns to 6,200.
  • Solana is expected to correct due to FTX unstaking and exhausted narrative/liquidity.
  • Ethereum is expected to underperform; short ETH/long BTC is cited as the winning pair trade.
  • Kaito is pitched as a real altcoin project with data aggregation and user rewards.
  • PSE Trading is defensive, 70% in majors, and shorts VC/celebrity coins using futures.

U.S. equities volatile; talks risky.
Fang thinks tariffs are a negotiating tactic and will not be permanently imposed, but negotiations will not go smoothly because China has been resilient and will retaliate/negotiate. She expects a lot more volatility at least until the end of April. She does not think the S&P has fully priced a permanent supply-chain shift away from China, and says the NASDAQ's bounce is only a local bottom with more downside if trade talks disappoint.

Accumulate BTC as institutions DCA.
Fang is long-term very bullish BTC and says her fund will keep accumulating. She argues this cycle changed after ETF approval and institutional entry: pension funds, mutual funds, and long-only players treat BTC as a hold/DCA asset and their large positions cannot be dumped quickly, so macro headlines move BTC less. Bigger players are accumulating, and BTCFi/staking lets large BTC holders earn yield. She thinks whoever holds the most BTC at cycle end wins. She also says BTC could reach about $140K by year-end if Trump walks back tariffs and the S&P returns to 6,200.

Kaito: crypto Bloomberg with real team.
Fang pitches Kaito as her favorite altcoin. She says it is built by an ex-Citadel veteran, is building mindshare, and is a real project rather than a scam or rug. She describes it as the Bloomberg of crypto: it aggregates data, rewards users for valuable analysis via airdrops, and lets token holders vote on projects on the platform.

Solana corrects; whales can dump.
Fang expects Solana to correct for quite a while. She cites FTX unstaking and whales/VCs who entered around $60-$80 now having room to dump near $117. The Solana narrative already cooked in the first half, and liquidity was extracted by celebrity/Trump/Melania coins without being recycled into crypto. She thinks altcoin liquidity is dead and Solana will not recover until BTC reaches about $85K-$86K and casino/meme plays revive.

Short ETH, long BTC; ETH lags.
Fang says Ethereum has underperformed because of ETH Foundation leadership/narrative problems, Vitalik losing mindshare, high costs, unclear innovation, and Layer 2 issues. She notes the winning pair trade has been short ETH/long BTC, which played out as ETH fell from about $4K to $1.6K, and the ETH ETF disappointed because no staking was available. She does not think Ethereum will come back anytime soon.

Short VC and celebrity crypto tokens.
Fang says shorting VC coins was one of the best 2025 plays in January. She argues retail survivors refuse to buy VC-insider tokens because VCs bought early and dump into the market. She also calls celebrity extraction coins such as Jelly Jelly and Vinecoin clear shorts because politicians/celebrities took liquidity out of crypto without recycling it back. Her fund shorts altcoins, mainly using futures, when sentiment is weak/euphoric and VC entry prices imply further drawdown.
