Crypto Writer & Angel Investor
Route 2 FI is a pseudonymous Scandinavian crypto writer and angel investor. His real name is not public, and he discloses no employer of record or professional credentials; the account dates to January 2019 and has about 302,000 followers. He came to crypto out of the FIRE (financial independence, retire early) movement rather than out of finance. By his own account he was working as an engineer in 2016 on $4,000-5,000 a month, invested in stocks until the end of 2020, and became financially independent in January 2021 at 33. He has since turned on the approach that got him there: "The problem with the FIRE movement is that it is a bet against yourself, and yes, this is coming from someone who used to be a part of it." He describes the turn as one concentrated bet — in the summer of 2021 he bought ETH at around $1,900-2,100 with everything he had, saw his net worth double three months later as ETH hit $4,000, and has been full time in crypto since, which he now dates at about five years. Today he writes The Black Swans on Substack (29,000+ subscribers), a newsletter publishing two to three articles a week on DeFi, trading, yield strategies and airdrop farming, and posts long research threads on individual protocols. Alongside the writing he invests at seed and angel stage and discloses those positions in his posts ("I am a seed investor in the project"; "I am an early backer of @reya_xyz"), and has said angel positions produced large realised gains at the end of 2024. His X bio is simply "Trading on news & the latest narratives." He is based in Scandinavia and spent much of 2026 trialling a move to Switzerland.
