Fang says shorting VC coins was one of the best 2025 plays in January. She argues retail survivors refuse to buy VC-insider tokens because VCs bought early and dump into the market. She also calls celebrity extraction coins such as Jelly Jelly and Vinecoin clear shorts because politicians/celebrities took liquidity out of crypto without recycling it back. Her fund shorts altcoins, mainly using futures, when sentiment is weak/euphoric and VC entry prices imply further drawdown.

Fang says Ethereum has underperformed because of ETH Foundation leadership/narrative problems, Vitalik losing mindshare, high costs, unclear innovation, and Layer 2 issues. She notes the winning pair trade has been short ETH/long BTC, which played out as ETH fell from about $4K to $1.6K, and the ETH ETF disappointed because no staking was available. She does not think Ethereum will come back anytime soon.

The Solana narrative already cooked in the first half, and liquidity was extracted by celebrity/Trump/Melania coins without being recycled into crypto. She thinks altcoin liquidity is dead and Solana will not recover until BTC reaches about $85K-$86K and casino/meme plays revive.
