Alex Karnal is co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Braidwell, a healthcare-focused investment firm covering biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics. From 2005 to 2021 he was a partner, managing director and co-portfolio manager at Deerfield Management, where he helped conceive and build the Cure, Deerfield's healthcare innovation campus; earlier he worked in Merrill Lynch's global equity-linked products and capital markets groups. He is also co-founder, CEO and board chairman of the Institute for Life Changing Medicines, a non-profit focused on treatments for life-threatening diseases. He holds a BS from MIT and an MS from Johns Hopkins University.
