Summary
The author argues that stripping out job gains in retirement services, home health, physician offices, and local government reveals a net loss of ~100K jobs YoY, claiming the headline BLS report masks a severe economic contraction.
Thesis: The U.S. economy is in worse shape than headline numbers suggest, with goods-producing jobs disappearing and overall growth reliant on an aging population’s care needs and public sector.
Quality assessment: Speculative / noise. The author cherry-picks sectors without adjusting for long-term demographic trends, and the commenters correctly point out logical fallacies (e.g., subtracting large positive categories to get a negative is not a valid decomposition).
