The collapse was always inevitable, Trump is just making it happen a lot faster. (Source: the news)
So Marx wrote some books which just apply the logic of capitalism (which is why everyone hates him) and points out the obvious issues it will encounter.
**Falling Rate of Profit:**
Capitalism tends towards cannibalizing itself. The **rate of profit** (surplus value relative to invested capital) tends to fall because capitalists invest more in **constant capital** (machines, raw materials) which returns only a portion of its value, rather than **variable capital** (wages for living labor) which generates new surplus value. This intensifies exploitation and leads to periodic **economic crises** marked by overproduction, underconsumption, and financial turmoil.
**Inherent Contradictions:**
Capitalism is defined by fundamental conflicts:
* **Private Profit vs. Social Cost:** Externalities like pollution and inequality are ignored.
* **Capital vs. Labor:** The bourgeoisie (capital owners) and proletariat (workers) are locked in a struggle over surplus value extraction.
* **Production for Profit vs. Human Need:** Growth is driven by market expansion, often disconnecting it from societal needs.
* **Expansion vs. Limits:** It requires constant market and resource expansion, leading to imperialism and conflict.
**These lead to predictable crises:**
Marx pointed out that capitalism regularly experiences **economic crises**. These aren't crazy edge cases, but the *necessary consequences* of its internal contradictions. Crises such as:
* **Overproduction:** Capitalists produce more than can be sold profitably.
* **Underconsumption:** The working class, who drive demand, have less and less money... why? Because capitalists pay them as little as possible!
* **Banking Crises:** Credit tightens as businesses struggle to repay loans with falling profits. Debt cycles self-reinforcing on the way up, and down!
* **Breakdown of Trade:** Markets collapse as production stops.
**Does any of that sound familiar assholes???**
Another thing that doesn't help is that today's billionaire's are maybe the fucking dumbest rich people ever. Just go read Marc Andreessen's [Techno-Optimist Manifesto](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Techno-Optimist_Manifesto)... It's like someone wrote their stream of consciousness while drunk. There's sections like "The Meaning Of Life" and "Enemies". And a lot of the 0.1% actually this shit seriously.
I'm not saying I want to see a socialist revolution... I'm saying it's inevitable.
