IPO Investors - What actually helped you get allotment?

I mostly stick to MFs & stock sips but this year i thought of applying for an IPO again The last time i applied, i went in with just one lot but did not get the allotment so i never tried again. With some good IPOs on the list....i am planning to give it one more shot. Can you share what worked out for you? Was it the lot number, early bookings, or applying from multiple broker accounts.
