Some quick back story. Wife and I(both 37) didn’t invest much while we were young, as we had mediocre bartending jobs where the tips left out pockets as fast as we made them. We here and there threw money at our roths but never have a lot of money. We got our lives together during/after covid, she just became a nurse and is starting at 60/hr and I own my small business. This year i should gross around $100k.
I told her we should make sure her 401k is maxed out before her Roth and I’ll just continue maxing my Roth. We plan to invest a total of 30k a year as we are saving for a house in one of the most expensive markets in the country.
Should we max her 401k first before focusing on our roths or do I have it backwards etc?
Any insight would be great. Our roths are just voo/equivalent for the most part.
