I just invested the balance of my Vanguard Roth IRA Brokerage Account settlement fund by buying into 3 different ETFs (VOO, VTI, and VXUS). Yet, when I try to set the ETFs for automatic reinvestment of dividends the only option it gives me for "reinvestment" of dividends is the settlement fund itself (VMFXX). Specifically, when I went to Change Dividend Distributions and Change Capital Gains Distributions links it gives me the 3 choices (reinvest, transfer to settlement, or transfer to bank account). Once I select "reinvest into more shares," the next step ONLY allowed me to select the settlement fund, and will not allow me to check the boxes next to the three ETFs. When I click the question mark next to each ETF, it says "this holding is not eligible for dividend Election Changes." Now, when I look at my accounts it only says Reinvest next to VMFXX and the 3 etfs say "N/A." What is the purpose of this? The entire reason I went with Vanguard for IRA and ETFs is that I thought I could also set them for re-investment of dividends automatically and that I would not have to go in all the time to manually do it. I wend with ETFs over Admiral Shares because the fees are a little lower. What am I doing wrong? Thanks VERY MUCH for your help (I am obviously very new at this).
