Summary

The four All-In hosts debate Bernie Sanders' call for a moratorium on new AI data centers, arguing the AI backlash is partly astroturfed by billionaire-funded doomer groups and that the industry must show tangible public benefits to fix a perception problem. They review the latest US data (CPI 2.7% vs 3.1% expected, unemployment 4.6% driven by federal buyouts), with Sacks calling it the cusp of a golden age and a gangbusters 2026 while Calacanis argues most Americans do not feel it. The China segment covers a Reuters report that China built a prototype EUV lithography machine: Friedberg argues China is pursuing lithography primacy through alternative AI-driven methods that could reach or surpass ASML, while Sacks says ASML's EUV remains the West's key advantage and Chamath expects memory-centric inference chips on mature nodes. The show closes with the hosts moving to Texas amid California's proposed billionaire tax and the rescheduling of marijuana to Schedule III.

  • Bernie Sanders proposes a moratorium on new AI data centers; hosts call it an own goal that would cede AI leadership to China.
  • Sacks cites Vanguard and Yale Budget Lab data showing no AI-driven job loss so far and a roughly 2% GDP tailwind from AI capex.
  • Sacks and Chamath argue anti-AI sentiment is amplified by billionaire-funded doomer groups funding journalism fellowships and anti-data-center NIMBY campaigns.
  • November CPI 2.7% vs 3.1% expected, core 2.6%; unemployment 4.6% as government payrolls fell 162k after DOGE buyouts; Sacks sees rates falling and a gangbusters 2026.
  • Calacanis counters that prices are still rising and the bottom half of Americans who do not own equities do not feel a golden age.
  • Reuters reports China built a prototype EUV machine; Friedberg says China's $48B Phase III chip fund and Tsinghua AI-based lithography research aim for parity with or beyond ASML, and Huawei likely has a system near production.
  • Sacks says ASML's EUV is the West's biggest AI advantage while China's DUV workarounds and Huawei Ascend CloudMatrix racks are serviceable; Chamath expects memory-centric SRAM inference chips on mature nodes.
  • Hosts discuss relocating to Texas amid California's proposed billionaire tax, a roughly $1T pension shortfall, and marijuana rescheduling to Schedule III.

Inflation rolling over, rates falling, gangbusters 2026.
Sacks argues the latest data is about as good as an economic report gets: CPI came in at 2.7% versus 3.1% expected, core CPI at 2.6% is the lowest since March 2021, and core inflation has run at 1.6% over the past three months, so inflation is rolling over and is 'just about a solved problem.' That implies interest rates keep coming down, lowering mortgage and car-financing costs, helped further by a $600B year-over-year deficit reduction. The unemployment uptick is driven by government payrolls falling 162k after DOGE buyouts while private employment rose 121k; gas is below $3, real wages are up about $1,000, and Big Beautiful Bill tax cuts (no tax on tips, overtime or Social Security, bigger standard deduction) take effect in 2026. With AI capex adding roughly 2% to GDP growth and Vanguard projecting 3% growth for 2026 (which he calls conservative, with the strongest improvement in the second half), he notes the stock market is ripping on the data and tells investors to 'sit back and enjoy this' because 2026 will be gangbusters.
David Friedberg CEO, The Production Board 62:57
China's homegrown lithography threatens ASML's monopoly.
Friedberg says the Reuters story about China reverse-engineering a prototype ASML EUV machine understates a much broader state-funded effort: Chinese banks capitalized the roughly $48B National Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund Phase III in 2024 explicitly to attack chokepoints like lithography, and Tsinghua University researchers have published breakthroughs in AI-driven inverse lithography that use neural networks to compensate for suboptimal optics and print 3nm-class masks without Zeiss-grade precision, while another Chinese team used AI to discover a novel optics method. He believes Huawei very likely already has a domestic lithography system heading into production and that China is running a primacy race, not a catch-up race: alternative manufacturing systems could not only reach parity with ASML but get ahead of ASML, giving China leverage in chip manufacturing and AI. The setup to monitor is whether these alternative Chinese systems erode ASML's monopoly position in leading-edge lithography.
