Summary

The show covers President Trump's speech at the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Dinner and his comments on Iran, the impact of Mideast conflict on oil and energy markets, new tariff challenges, a measles surge, an exclusive interview with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on AI semiconductor demand and South Korean AI infrastructure, South Korean President’s bullish outlook, Ukraine war updates, a Saudi nuclear deal, and defense technology trends.

  • President Trump jokes about a fourth term and discusses Iran diplomacy amid ongoing U.S. strikes.
  • Oil holds near $100 as Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz disruptions tighten supply, with diesel and European natural gas also rallying.
  • New 301 tariffs on most trading partners take effect, facing legal challenges while markets largely accept the baseline rate.
  • Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang forecasts a 10x expansion in semiconductor demand driven by AI agents and robots, highlighting HBM memory constraints.
  • South Korean President Lee Jae-myung declares a golden age for Korea, citing booming semiconductor and industrial sectors for AI infrastructure.
  • Ukraine’s long-range strikes on Russian energy infrastructure further tighten global diesel markets.
  • Trump floats a civilian nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia but ties it to Abraham Accords normalization, undercutting the agreement.
  • Anduril’s president argues for mass-producing low-cost autonomous weapons as Europe rearms and U.S. inventories run low.
Ideas
Oil supply tight, upside price risk.
Global oil inventories are at uncomfortably low levels with the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea routes under threat. Houthi attacks on Saudi ships have endangered the main workaround for Hormuz closure, while Saudi infrastructure could be targeted. These supply risks, combined with depleted strategic reserves and no meaningful replenishment, support higher oil prices and potential spikes above recent levels.
European nat gas inventories low, bullish.
European natural gas inventories are at their lowest seasonal level in five years and are not on pace to hit the 80% refill target by November. This supply tightness has pushed European gas and Asian LNG prices to multi-year highs.
Diesel market tight, margins surging.
Refining margins for diesel and gasoline have surged because diesel supply is extremely tight. Russian diesel exports have been stopped, Kazakhstan crude flows are reduced, and global product inventories are low, creating further upside for refined product prices.
Lee Jae-myung President of South Korea 23:20
Korea in golden age for AI.
South Korea is in a golden age with its semiconductor and industrial businesses booming. The country has the unique ability to help the world build out AI infrastructure and is exceptionally adept at adopting new technologies, positioning it for sustained growth.
Jensen Huang CEO, NVIDIA 76:54
Semiconductor industry to grow 10x.
The computer industry is no longer just for humans: billions of AI agents and robots will also use computers. This structural shift means the semiconductor industry must scale up to 10 times its current size over the next decade. Every part of the supply chain—HBM memory, land, power, construction—is constrained, guaranteeing years of buildout.
Jensen Huang CEO, NVIDIA 77:22
SK Hynix benefits from NVIDIA demand.
NVIDIA is severely constrained on HBM memory and has large, multi-year purchase agreements and intentions with SK Hynix. The two companies are doing business worth roughly $1 trillion, ensuring long-term demand for SK Hynix’s memory products.
