David Friedberg CEO, The Production Board All-In Podcast
Traditional media loses to independent creators.
Freeberg's alternative worst performing asset - if Netflix does close Warner Bros - is traditional media stocks, which he expects to underperform. An incredible variety of high-quality content is emerging from independent creators who use their own distribution through YouTube and other platforms, and the rise of citizen journalism in news shows that traditional media will continue to be deeply challenged.

David Friedberg CEO, The Production Board All-In Podcast
Legacy broadcasters keep losing audience and ads.
Friedberg argues traditional broadcasters are in a one-directional structural decline: Fox News, CNN and MSNBC audiences are vaporizing as long-form independent creators take attention, and he calls it entropy - audience erodes first, advertising dollars follow, and the cable distribution deals that fund the business become worth progressively less. Their cost structure (studios, large crews, layered talent cuts and shareholder margins) cannot compete with creators who publish from Zoom and keep their own IP, and the talent they would need to license (Rogan, Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Mr Beast) has no economic reason to go backwards to cable.
