EV demand remains stuck in a chasm
The speaker does not expect EV demand to grow significantly and believes the EV industry will continue to suffer a chasm because subsidies have been cut, charging issues remain, and demand forecasts have been lowered. The slack in battery demand is expected to be taken up by robots and other physical-AI applications, so the EV sector itself is not the attractive part of the battery theme.

EV chasm is over; global growth continues
The EV chasm narrative is outdated: 2025 global EV sales grew about 25% year over year, or around 3.6 million units, with Europe up 33%, China up 22%, and other regions up 48%, while only the US declined about 4% after IRA subsidies ended. With global EV penetration still below 30% and the 10% penetration threshold making adoption difficult to reverse, the global EV market should continue growing rather than stalling.
