Buy AVAP below book, unlock value.
Avation was a UK-listed, Singapore-based regional aircraft lessor with roughly 30-33 planes trading at a large discount to tangible book (shares around 100p, tangible book 140-145p). Jeremy used his aircraft-leasing expertise and bought a ~20% block from a winding-down hedge fund at 79p, becoming the largest shareholder, then pushed for value-unlocking actions: refinancing debt, selling assets, monetizing purchase rights, buying back shares/bonds below par, and exploring a whole-company sale. Aircraft values rose ~25% over the roughly two-year hold and he exited around a 150p average; at 140-150p the risk/reward was much less attractive after the rerating.
