Summary

The Steady Lads discuss a crypto market correction, the White House Crypto Summit, the strategic Bitcoin reserve, and whether a bottom is in. They debate Trump's real interest in crypto, Binance and CZ pushing back on predatory market makers, and positioning after the latest selloff. Jordi outlines several contrarian long ideas and one prominent short, while Justin and Taiki discuss Bitcoin support, stablecoin regulation, Hyperliquid, Berachain, Solana unlocks, and AI coins.

  • The market is in a correction with weak sentiment after recent Trump-related crypto hype.
  • The White House Crypto Summit and Bitcoin strategic reserve were discussed, with altcoin inclusion seen as controversial and messy.
  • Binance and CZ pushing back on market-maker extraction was viewed as a positive enforcement development.
  • The hosts debated who is left to sell and whether positioning has become too bearish.
  • Solana unlocks and remaining supply pressure remained a key concern.
  • Hyperliquid and HyperEVM were discussed, with HYPE seen as fundamentally strong but crowded.
  • Berachain was framed as a farm-and-dump opportunity rather than a token to buy.
  • Jordi named Worldcoin, ARC, AI16Z and Pangu as asymmetric buys and remained short the Trump token.
Ideas
Justin Bram Reporter, The Block 11:36
Stablecoin bill benefits Ethereum
Stablecoin legislation is likely to advance before August and is a medium-to-longer-term positive even if near-term sentiment is bearish. Because most stablecoins are on Ethereum, he thinks the stablecoin bill can also be beneficial for ETH.
Justin Bram Reporter, The Block 19:14
Do not short; sovereigns still buying
He does not want to be short Bitcoin because headline risk is high; Mubadala has already disclosed a large BTC position and may keep buying, Saylor has only paused, and a return to the $70k area is not his base case. He sees buyers waiting for cheaper Bitcoin and sovereign/other-country accumulation as ongoing support.
Taiki Maeda Founder, HFA Research 24:18
Stablecoin regulation supports DeFi
He is optimistic on stablecoins and DeFi because Bessent and Sacks want stablecoin growth and favorable regulation, with a first draft by August. That should let more institutions issue or partner with stablecoin issuers, which supports DeFi.
Taiki Maeda Founder, HFA Research 34:07
Bullish Hyperliquid despite crowded positioning
He is bullish HYPE for the fundamentals, buybacks and social consensus, though he says the trade will take time because positioning is crowded. He is especially bullish on HyperEVM, arguing it is one of the few chains with hope and only needs one killer app to bring users.
Jordi Alexander Founder & CEO, Selini Capital 35:20
Avoid Solana until unlocks finish
He is still avoiding Solana because a large part of the unlock has passed but more supply is still coming, and price action has been heavy. He says he is not touching it until unlock pressure is done, though he thinks it may be near a bottom around 110 if it gets there.
Taiki Maeda Founder, HFA Research 43:02
Avoid BERA; farm and dump
He is neutral on Berachain's token because it is another DeFi chain with an extra tokenomics layer that looks Ponzi-like. However, he sees it as the best place to farm right now, with stablecoin yields around 15-20%, and his strategy is to farm and dump the token rather than buy it.
Jordi Alexander Founder & CEO, Selini Capital 51:36
Worldcoin asymmetric at all-time lows
Worldcoin is at all-time lows around 83 cents despite having a large cash reserve, which he views as an unreal and asymmetric opportunity. He has been buying on the way down and is adding more, also citing the optionality that Sam Altman could return and promote it.
Jordi Alexander Founder & CEO, Selini Capital 52:47
Short Trump token on no backing
He continues to short the Trump token into the ground because the token makes little sense and Trump himself has almost no real relation to it. Confirmation that the launch group was behind it strengthens his bear case.
Jordi Alexander Founder & CEO, Selini Capital 55:49
AI coins asymmetric after 90% drawdown
He is buying AI coins ARC and AI16Z because they are down more than 90% and offer an asymmetric either-dead-or-multibagger payoff. ARC has a real community and handpicks launches for higher quality, while AI16Z's Shaw keeps coding daily and streaming, giving him a chance to build through the bearish period.
Jordi Alexander Founder & CEO, Selini Capital 56:14
Pangu asymmetric at all-time lows
Pangu is at all-time lows and fits his asymmetric framework: most such coins die, but if it survives it can pay for many losers. He sees it as a community NFT/meme coin that can regain attention when liquidity and vibes return, and believes its founder can ship something that draws interest.
Jordi Alexander Founder & CEO, Selini Capital 70:29
Buy Ethereum at $1,000 long-term
He gives long-term alpha that if Ethereum reaches $1,000, he will buy it for a long-term bag. The idea comes from talking to an extreme crypto bear and treating that level as a long-term accumulation opportunity.
