Whirlpool ($WHR) has dropped -65% in the last 6 months and -90% in the last 5 years: is it over for the stock or could it be a very good opportunity? Whirlpool ($WHR) is sinking hard. Sales and profits are shrinking, debt is heavy, the dividend is gone, and bears are betting on more downside. Price of the stock dropped -65% in the last 6 months and -90% in the last 5 years which I think is insane for this kind of stock. The stock is being massively shorted: around 25% of share float, with a short ratio of around 8 days to cover, so there is short squeeze potential if results surprise positively. Sales have been decreasing: Q1 2026 reported -10% sales decline, Q2 reported -7% decline. The main causes are weak housing demand, consumer sentiment hitting 50-year lows, and elevated input costs. P/E is around 11 and P/B is around 0.5, which could be an indicator for a potential value investment opportunity, the problem is that Whirlpool has a debt of around $8B in debt while they have $1B in cash.
