Terminated my wealth manager today
I ignored too many little things that annoyed and bothered me about the lack of attention to detail and I felt guilty every time I got upset about a little mistake they made. But tbh I’ve been very worried if they’re making these small mistakes now and we’ve only worked together for 6 months, when my employer has a liquidity event I don’t think they’ll be able to be any better. I referred 3 people to them that they’re managing so I feel like there should be no hard feelings. With the advice of a friend who reminded me I’m capable of managing this on my own I’m going to do just that. I have an off boarding call with the advisor tomorrow but they require a 30 day notice which I’ve asked in the meantime not to make any trades in that time. The biggest flag was the sale of some of my tech stock (I’ve had for 5 years in an IRA doing well) for no other reason than they felt they should rebalance.
I’ll have faith with some studying and very passive investing for the long term I’ll be fine. Any guidance on where to start would be helpful.
Thank you!
