How do you realistically keep up with 10-Q/10-K filings during peak earnings season when holding 15+ individual US positions?
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to refine my portfolio management routine and address a bottleneck that hits every earnings season. As my portfolio grew past 15 holdings across different US sectors, peak reporting weeks have become tough to manage rigorously.
I'd love to learn from other fundamental/value investors about your actual routine:
1. **Your exact sequence:** When a company in your portfolio reports, what is the first thing you open? Do you read the full 10-Q, scan the investor presentation slides, or skim the earnings call transcript?
2. **Time budget:** Realistically, how much time do you spend analyzing each company's release before you feel satisfied?
3. **Thesis tracking:** How do you verify whether the reported quarter confirmed or broke your original investment thesis (operating margins, segment growth, debt paydown) vs. just beating consensus EPS headlines?
4. **Keeping track:** Do you keep written notes/memos for every single filing, or do you just focus on your top holdings and skim the rest?
Curious to hear how you balance depth vs. time without burning out!
