The author, a software engineer, scraped Reddit, Twitter, and news, using NLP to rate posts/comments from 1–100 on bullishness, then tracked performance over 30 days.
Thesis: Reddit sentiment is wrong 78% of the time (the stock moves opposite to the prevailing opinion), so a contrarian strategy of betting against Reddit would be profitable.
Quality assessment: Noise / anecdotal speculation. No methodology, sample size, ticker list, or backtest details are provided. The claim is broad and lacks concrete evidence.

Hi guys! I'm a software engineer who's also interested in the stock market, so I kind of combined the two things. I always wanted to know do ppl actually move the market, or the opposite, retail is losing and big money always wins. Well, I made a complicated software that scrapes reddit (and twitter and news) and with NLP models it gives each comment and post a rating from 1-100 depending on how bullish it is.
The result show that after 30 days of a post or comments, reddit is WRONG 78% of the time, meaning the stock went the other direction compared to what ppl were saying. So according to this reversing reddit would be a profitable strategy. Just wanted to share this little data before you put your life savings into another reddit financebro's 100% trade idea LOL.
