U.S. based frontier labs and hyperscalers have been rushing to secure GPUs, memory, power capacity, land, and supply chain for their AI models.
Chinese spending is significantly lower, even with heavy U.S. chip export controls.
If Kimi K3 is really as close to closing gap between the U.S. based AI models as claimed, what does that say about U.S. spending? Is it truly that inefficient? Do hyperscalers here have to slow or reconsider their spending on supply chain? How can they optimize better? Can these cyclical companies, who have seen amazing margins, sustain those margins? Implications here are not just limited to semiconductors, but also construction commitments, Neo-clouds, optical transceivers, CPUs, etc.
The commoditization of intelligence will mean better optimization, which means spend will have to be mature going forward imo.
These are the questions market is asking. Idk where we go from here, but this is where the market is trying to price in imo.
