I’m writing this because I’ve spent the last few days reading every post and comment across WSB and other trading subs and honestly I’m genuinely concerned. Not about the trade itself but about what comes after. Before we go any further into this upcoming June frenzy I want to make sure we don’t become part of the problem.
First let me start from the beginning and how this actually started..
Months ago some random user on WSB floated a speculative idea: when SpaceX eventually goes public under ticker SPCX, retail investors who don’t read carefully might accidentally pile into SPCE (Virgin Galactic) thinking it’s the same company. That was the seed, ticker confusion as a trade. It has happened before a million times including the case with ZM/ZOOM during Covid and it's a classic WSB idea that might actually work.
A quick word about the actual SpaceX IPO.
Let’s face it, this IPO is a glorified liquidation event. Yes SpaceX is an incredible company and the rockets are real, the Starlink network is revolutionary, the engineering is extraordinary... none of that is the point. The point is who gets in before the public does.
Right now as the SpaceX IPO machine revs up for a reported $1.75 to $2 trillion target valuation, venture funds are sitting on bags they’ve held for years. Private investors who got in at $20 a share in the dark are preparing to sell to you at $200 in the light. Insiders who’ve been compensated in equity are watching the clock tick and a dozen other banks are counting their underwriting fees. Politicians securing their proximity and the connected class getting their prime allocation. And now retail gets told: Congratulations, you may now participate.
In what exactly... the upside or the exit?
This is how the modern market always works. The greatest companies of our generation stay private for a decade while the real wealth is created and then they get brought public the exact moment the machine needs liquidity. They call it democratization. They call it access and opportunity but it’s none of those things, it is a polished legal mechanism for transferring risk from the connected class onto everyone else right when the connected class decides they’ve made enough.
It’s not illegal, it’s worse. It is legal. Protected by the language of markets.
GameStop happened because a massively shorted stock met a moment of collective retail attention and for a brief window the math broke in the wrong direction for Wall Street. They called it irrational, halted it, restricted it, held congressional hearings and had to explain the concept of short squeezes and call options to people who spent their whole careers building short squeezes. So again, SPCE is not GameStop, because the mechanics are different and the setup is different and obviously the underlying company is different too. But I think the spirit is identical: retail found the one weapon the machine genuinely cannot fully price or control and that is collective attention.
When enough people decide the same thing matters at the same time, no amount of analyst notes or CNBC segments and no “well actually the fundamentals don’t support this” narrative can stop it. Symbols move faster than earnings reports and don't wait for analyst upgrades. I think SPCE has become a symbol whether some like it or not and right now that is worth more than any fundamental thesis ever written about Virgin Galactic.
This movement is the person who worked and saved, opened a brokerage account and bought into the narrative that markets are fair and then watched politicians trade stocks around legislation they were writing. Watched IPOs get handed to institutions at prices retail never saw and watched public markets become the mechanism through which private wealth exits onto ordinary people.
So… if we are regard enough to do this, we do it right.
**Stop with the AI-generated posts. They look exactly like what they are and make this entire movement look like a cheap pump and dump operation.**
**Stop screaming about guaranteed returns. This can go to zero. Well actually it WILL go to zero eventually.**
**Stop the “SPCE will convert to SPCX" nonsense. That’s not how any of this works it’s factually wrong and one bad piece of disinformation like that poisons the whole thing. You will ruin this shit faster than any hedge fund could.**
**Stop telling people to invest rent money, money you can’t watch disappear on a Tuesday afternoon, or actually any money at all.**
The moment we start lying to people we become the problem, just the insider with a microphone telling retail what they want to hear so you can sell into their belief.
There will be pumps and there will certainly be violent dumps. There will be people who buy, ride it up 200% then sell and call everyone still holding bagholders. Good for them, let them. Not everyone is playing the same trade and that’s fine. But please don’t mistake the daily candle for the idea.
The idea is that the biggest space IPO in history is about to roll into town and consume every financial headline on the planet. Every talking head and every fund, every bank and politician wants proximity to that story. Retail cannot get the real allocation and cannot get in at the private price. But we found the public space ticker and decided that they dont get to own the whole narrative. That idea doesn’t die because of a red candle or even a massive red day.
So the window is the SpaceX IPO, the attention is the weapon and the chart is just the scoreboard. If this gets loud enough they will halt it and they might even push dilution. They probably will.
I’m all in from here. I'm not looking for a perfect entry and not managing around a fundamental thesis. All in. Not because I’m certain this works. It might crash. It might become the dumbest trade of the year I know that. But I’m looking at a SpaceX IPO that is shaping up to be the most polished and most connected, most insider loaded exit in the history of public markets and I’m looking at retail having exactly one thing to answer it with: attention.
A few grand would be nice. A hundred or two hundred grand would be insane… but being part of the thing that makes the IPO roadshow actually have to talk about us?
That’s worth more than the P&L and that’s why people still talk about GME. Not because everyone made money, most people didn’t. They talk about it because for one moment the machine had to turn around.
Space is on the board now. Crash or generational.
NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE
Edit:
TLDR: There is none, the post itself is the TLDR to the SPCE phenomenon.
Some people have asked me to post this on WSB. I have tried, but mentioning GME is banned there. Feel free to take my writing, censor it somehow and post it, if you wish. I take no credit.
