In his recent posts, Michael Burry revealed that he was buying “value” factor stocks such as ADBE, PYPL & LULU. The big question is, why? While Burry is well-known for his deep-value plays, it’s not immediately obvious what he sees behind these names that others might be missing.
One conclusion that could be made is that he’s buying them simply for their low multiples, and hoping that the market re-rates them in the future. However, that’s something anyone could figure out, and doesn’t explain his conviction behind them. So what is the value investing framework that informs his boldness behind such stocks, beyond simply their low multiples?
