If you look at copper right now, it feels like the market can’t decide what it wants to do.
On one side, you’ve got rising participation in futures markets opеn interest increasing even as trading volume fluctuates, which suggests capital is still positioning around the metal.
On the other side, macro signals are mixed:
• China imports down
• global growth concerns creeping back
• analysts trimming near-term expectations
• geopolitical events moving sentiment week to week
It creates this strange environment where copper trades like a macro asset in the short term reacting to headlines, positioning, and sentiment shifts.
But underneath that, nothing fundamental has really changed.
The long-term drivers electrification, energy infrastructure, AI, industrial demand are still building. And the supply response is still slow.
That’s why the earliest stage of the pipeline matters more than it seems.
Companies like NovaRed Mining (CSE: NRED / OTCQB: NREDF) aren’t reacting to futures positioning or import data week to week. They’re working on defining whether new copper systems exist at all which is the only thing that actually expands supply over time.
The market may trade copper daily.
But copper itself is still being built on a multi-year timeline.
