Summary
The author, u/headshot6, shares their success story of reaching $100k in their account with $35k in profit primarily by selling options (theta strategies).
The author's primary strategy involves selling cash-secured puts on silver (SLV) on red days, using basic technical analysis (support/resistance on hourly charts) to time entries.
Quality assessment: This is an anecdotal success story, not well-researched due diligence. It details a personal strategy and its results, which are heavily influenced by luck and a favorable market trend in a specific asset (silver). It should be considered noise or, at best, a case study of a specific strategy.

Hey guys
Long time lurker in this sub and I thought I'd share my results as I've recently crossed $35k profit selling theta and my account hit the 100k milestone. Mostly thanks to silver and I got lucky on some assignments, but considering I didn't know what an option was in May last year, I think I did pretty well. Also got lucky going away on holidays late Jan till yesterday, so I managed to dodge the massive sell off in metals.
Silver's just been a huge win for me with the average hold of 4 days but I guess the results are sort of skewed since SLV has just been going up most of the time.
The account size at the moment is $102k and I think I'm ready to devote more time to it and possibly deposit more cash. The start last year was quite rough and it seemed like I'm stuck and going back and forth, but it definitely picked up in the second half of the year.
I normally sell puts on red days, preferably a few hours after the open with limit orders set at the highest bid for the day using some basic TA like support and resistance levels drawn on an hourly chart. This would probably explain my high winrate. I avoid earnings and FOMC days but I still got burned a few times with Trump going wild on X, especially in the first half of last year.
I've been mostly selling when I get some time of work, but I think this has a huge potential and hopefully it encourages some of you to push through even though my results aren't perfect as I understand it.
Thanks for reading about my brag as my wife can't stand hearing about options anymore lol.
Cheers and I'll post some occasional updates moving forward.
