I keep coming back to the same thought with crypto: most of the value is just based on the idea that someone else will pay more for it later. That’s basically the definition of the greater fool theory.
When you compare it to other assets, the difference is pretty obvious.
Stocks give you ownership in real companies that generate profits and cash flow.
Real estate provides actual utility a place to live or rent out for income.
Even gold, while it doesn’t produce anything, has thousands of years of history as a store of value.
With crypto, there’s usually no cash flow, no yield without extra risk, and no real-world necessity. Prices mostly move because of hype, narratives, and new buyers coming in. When that slows down, things tend to unwind fast.
Not saying people can’t make money trading it clearly they do. But it feels a lot closer to speculation than investing.
