Where and How do I begin?

Hello everyone! I'm pretty new to all of this and wanted to give stocks a try. Honestly, I was a bit scared at first since I kept hearing from friends and family that it’s kinda pointless. But some coworkers started talking about it and introduced me to the basics, just the essentials like using investing.com and Robinhood. They basically handed me the starting kit and told me to do my own research. Problem is, I honestly don’t know where to start or what to focus on. So I was wondering if I could ask you all for some advicewhat should I do, what should I avoid? Keep in mind, I’m completely new to this, so some of the terminology and concepts might fly over my head at first. Thanks so much in advance for your patience and help!
