I really enjoy managing my own portfolio of stocks. It’s always been a great source of joy for me, and I really love taking an ownership mindset. However, lately I feel spiteful anytime I open my brokerage app. The companies that I believe are high quality businesses at reasonable valuations are hitting multi-year lows: Adobe, PayPal, The Trade Desk, Ferrari, Salesforce, ServiceNow. I would understand if one or two, or even half of my portfolio was underperforming. But it feels like the majority of my portfolio is hitting lows while the market rallies.
I don’t feel the desire to sell any of these businesses because I really do believe in them. But how do I psychologically not feel pain when I look at these hefty losses? And how do I not feel like an idiot for picking a bunch of losers?
