\[DD-ish\] WHY.V / WHYRF — I noticed this tiny Canadian miner just got a real permit and I think it might be one of those “quiet winners”. I haven't seen any chatter online or on reddit for that matter, but securing a permit for a junior mining company is kind of a big deal isn't it??
Not financial advice. I’m not a geologist. I’m not a mining guy. I’m just a person who likes finding small caps before everyone’s uncle starts tweeting about them.
So I’ve been looking at West High Yield Resources (WHY) and this one feels like it might be worth keeping on a watchlist.
The company has a project in BC near Rossland called Record Ridge. And the big thing is, they just got the official permit to build and operate the mine.
That’s not “we’re applying” or “we’re optimistic.” It’s the government saying yes, you can do it.
I know that sounds boring but in junior mining, boring = good. Because 90% of these companies never make it past “cool PowerPoint deck.”
Why I care: it’s finally moving from “story” to “doing”
According to the write-up, now that the permit is in, they’re planning to:
\- start site prep + road building right away
\- then do initial ore shipments to a U.S. processor
\- and longer term they want Canadian magnesium refining
This isn’t a gold play. This is a “critical minerals / boring industrial materials that secretly run the world” play:
magnesium, silica, nickel, iron
And magnesium is one of those things that shows up everywhere:
lighter car parts / EV stuff, aerospace, construction materials, supply chain “reshoring” themes
So the vibe here is less “lottery ticket gold strike” and more “this could be a steady industrial thing if it works.”
They also have indigenous partnership (also matters a lot in Canada)
They’re working with Skemxist Solutions, an Indigenous-led contractor linked to the Osoyoos Indian Band.
This isn’t just “optics” — it’s a legit piece of getting projects done in Canada without things blowing up socially
They mention the project already had prior NI 43-101 economics pointing to \~10.6 million tonnes of contained magnesium.
The interesting part is:
they’re talking about initial ore shipments first (simpler, faster, less capex probably)…
then the bigger dream is a Canadian refining facility (higher value, bigger upside)
So you kinda get:
near-term “prove it” milestones, plus long-term “if they pull this off, it re-rates hard” upside
What am I missing here??? a small Canadian mining company that finally got the permit, has a clear “start mining → ship material → scale up” plan, and sits in the whole critical minerals / North American supply chain theme…
…that’s the kind of setup that sometimes goes from “nobody cares” to “why is this up 300%?” very quickly.
This feels like one of those “boring until it isn’t” stories.
