Most trade finance delays I’ve seen don’t happen because a document is missing.
They happen because the doc is “fine”… but nobody agrees on what it actually means.
A clause is vague.
A tolerance is “understood”.
A condition gets waived because “we’ve always done it”.
Deals move.
Risk piles up quietly.
When things get busy, people fall back on experience to make it work.
That’s fine until the experience lives in one person’s head.
Then someone asks questions later.
And suddenly it’s not so clear anymore.
That’s when you realize it was never a document issue.
It was a control issue.
Good trade finance isn’t about perfect paperwork.
It’s about not relying on unwritten rules.
