I am retiring from full time work this year, with I have a pension and bit of part time work, so I won't need to access my portfolio for some years yet. I am looking at rebalancing my allocation to make me feel better about SSR during the first few years of my retirement.
My current allocation is 93% S and P 500 Index funds, with the other 7% being bonds and cash (the cash is about three years' expenses). I am thinking of selling another 5-10% of the S and P in my 401K and move more money in to cash/bonds.
My 403b offers one bond fund and one money market.
Vanguard® Intermediate-Term Bond Index Fund - Institutional Shares
Vanguard® Federal Money Market Fund - Investor Shares (It paid 3.7% in 2025)
I am thinking about taking the 5-10% from the sale of my S and P and doing a 50/50 split between these two funds.
Any thoughts about these funds or my proposed 50/50 split would be welcome.
Thanks!
