I'm getting ready to help move my spouse on from a financial advisor/active manager at Morgan Stanley who has been managing a large inherited IRA and to move the accounts to a different brokerage. The advisor has invested a significant amount in a variety of corporate "trigger" bonds, e.g.: [https://www.finra.org/finra-data/fixed-income/bond?cusip=06745QF95&bondType=CA](https://www.finra.org/finra-data/fixed-income/bond?cusip=06745QF95&bondType=CA), most of which are not maturing until 2030. Are these able to be sold or transferred to other brokerages? Most concerning, one of these is held in a taxable brokerage account. According to a discussion I found here (https://forum.whitecoatinvestor.com/general-investing/9952-structured-notes-there-has-to-be-a-catch-where-are-the-fees) these are basically scams and impossible to sell.
Does anyone have experience with these sorts of investments? Is it possible to get out from under them before their maturity dates without taking a huge hit? Any advice would be appreciated.
