Please forgive me if this is not for this group, but I've learned a lot already, read the books, etc.
My 403 b plan offers a number of vendors, most with just annuities. I have 1 that offers mutual funds but he fees are double what I pay for my Roth IRA with Vanguard.
In searching online, I asked if I can rollover existing contributions from my VALIC mutual funds in my current job/403b plan to a vanguard rollover ira that I would manage myself.
The research said it's rare and to ask my HR. I asked the head cheese and he said I think you should be able to. I asked his assistant and she said yes.
I looked at my VALIC literature and it says no surrender fees.
I guess I don't really trust the people at work so what's the worst case scenario if I initiate a rollover through Vanguard?
I know I have to keep future contributions through a current approved vendor through my school/job.
Thank you
