I know this is likely a slightly dumb question, but here it is.
Currently invested in mutual funds. Want to get into lower cost ETF’s instead. If I sold all my mutual funds and bought the etf that is a closest match, what happens re dividends? if I have 10 shares of the mutual fund worth $100 and I buy 1 share of the ETF worth $100 - would I get the same dividend if the percentage given by both funds is equal?
The reading I have done indicates that it would be the same because the dividend is calculated on the value of the investment, not the number of shares but that seems counterintuitive to me so I want to make sure I fully understand before making the switch.
Thanks!
