Context: I use VUSSX as my HYSA, which I started in 02/21/2024 and threw all the money I had (130K) into when the yield was almost 5%. Now it's down to 3.68%. I previously had my money in a regular checking account collecting pretty much nothing over many years (I know financial literacy is dumb, never was taught anything about finances)
My ROTH IRA is maxed, I max it every new year the full amount.
Should I be even going for an HYSA, should I dump the money somewhere else? I currently have no debt, own a home, work a state job which will offer me a pension (I'm 10 years in and vested).
Please tell me where I should put my money, the rate of return on the HYSA was $13,000 over those 2 years with dividends and me contributing to it, so now I have in VUSXX $170,094.74
Where should I put my money? I don't plan on making big purchases, how much should I leave in VUSXX or should I leave anything at all? I'm 30 years old.
