PSA: Check your statements for hidden fees. Just went through my statement with an employer sponsored 457 account I contribute to and an advisor I’ve never spoken with has been collecting a .5% fee for the last few years without me knowing about it.

I’m VT and chill in this account. Custodian emails weekly summaries about account performance, but they don’t disclose fees. I’m lazy, didn’t even know my username and password, just let it roll last few of years with my salary reduction, etc. Anyway, I just got in and looked at an actual statement and I see some BS “Wealth Something Something Strategies” has been collecting an advisory fee for several years. My employer has this group as a recommended advisor you can talk solicit services from. But I was super surprised to see them talking half a percent in a self directed account without me ever talking with them. I called them up, they don’t even have my info on file LOL but they’re taking money from me, so now I’m caught in a headache to remove them as an advisor. Going to need to do a three way call with them and the custodian. TLDR: Check to see who is collecting hidden fees in your accounts.
