Hi all,
This started from a pretty dumb, personal curiosity.
When looking at dividend stocks, I kept wondering things like:
“If I wanted $500 or $1,000 a month from this ticker…
roughly how much capital would that actually take?”
I just wanted to see the number once.
But most tools I found were either buried in ads,
part of a full portfolio app, or just more complicated than I needed.
So I got a bit bored and spent a couple evenings
throwing together a very simple calculator.

There’s really not much to it:
- pick a dividend stock
- enter a monthly income target
- it shows a rough estimate of how much capital that implies
The dividend data is **not real-time** — it’s based on the latest available data,
so this is very much “reference / back-of-the-napkin” territory,
not something to make serious investment decisions with.
There’s also a simple view using historical dividend growth,
mostly for anyone who enjoys running a bit of a happiness-fueled thought experiment.
No accounts, no saving, no tracking.
Refresh the page and everything disappears.
I mostly built this for myself, but figured I’d share it
in case anyone else likes seeing the number once and moving on.
If anything looks obviously wrong, feel free to point it out.
