Oil prices higher-for-longer with tightening supply
Oil supplies have been tightened significantly over the past three months with a net loss of about 15 million barrels per day globally. Stockpiles are nearing operationally minimal levels and cannot be replenished quickly. Even if a ceasefire deal leads to a knee-jerk selloff, the market will soon refocus on depleted inventories and the difficulty of refilling them, leading to higher-for-longer prices with continued volatility. Additionally, China is likely to resume stockpiling when prices dip, putting a floor under crude.
