Nvidia partnership gives CoreWeave next-gen priority.
Nvidia is investing an additional $2 billion in CoreWeave and partnering to build AI factories, making CoreWeave the first neocloud to adopt Nvidia's Rubin, Vera CPU, and BlueField storage platforms. This gives CoreWeave priority access to Nvidia's next-generation products and accelerates its AI factory construction.
Big Tech chips pressure Nvidia.
Big Tech companies including Microsoft, Google, and Amazon are developing their own AI chips to reduce costs and power constraints, which creates a competitive overhang and downward pressure on Nvidia.
Data-center power demand lifts gas turbines.
A US energy company's earnings showed data center and LNG-related industrial technology revenue growing strongly, and it doubled its gas turbine order target for the next three years due to surging power demand. This reinforces the investment case for gas turbine and power-generation equipment suppliers.
Bitcoin risks lower if support breaks.
Bitcoin is trading in a range and could test its previous low in the high-70,000s; a break there could open the way to below $70,000 or $60,000. However, in extreme geopolitical crises, local demand for Bitcoin can surge when people need to move capital out, so it is worth monitoring.
Gold and silver gain safe-haven demand.
Gold and silver are benefiting from safe-haven demand, dollar weakness, and central-bank gold buying as countries reduce dollar exposure. MOVE index spikes and dollar weakness have coincided with sharp gold and silver rallies, and the supply-demand structure remains supportive.
Equal-weight S&P 500 outperforms cap-weighted.
Market breadth is improving. The equal-weight S&P 500 ETF is outperforming the cap-weighted S&P 500 ETF year-to-date, while earnings momentum for the 493 non-M7 stocks is improving and M7 earnings growth is slowing. Investors should look beyond mega-cap tech.
China strength supports Apple earnings premium.
Apple's product revenue and services should grow at a double-digit pace, China sales are strong, and margins should hold around 34%. The stock trades near 30 times earnings, and if China momentum continues, it could earn a valuation premium. JPMorgan also raised its target ahead of earnings.
Low cloud expectations may spark rebound.
Microsoft's cloud growth is expected to slow to about 26% from 28%, and the market has lowered expectations. CapEx remains high but Microsoft is restraining spending more than peers. If cloud growth surprises to the upside, the stock could rebound.
Market too negative on Meta margins.
Meta is trading at about 19 times earnings with market expectations overly negative on Reality Labs losses and first-quarter margins. If Meta shows improved cost discipline or better Reality Labs comments, the stock could rebound from depressed levels.
Watch robotaxi, FSD, Optimus roadmap.
Tesla's near-term earnings are weak, but the stock is driven by the robotaxi, FSD, and Optimus roadmap. Tesla needs to present a concrete commercialization plan; without it, momentum is uncertain. It remains a long-term watch.
Dollar weakness favors Korea equities.
A falling dollar index, lower US 10-year yields, and capital flows into emerging markets should favor Korean equities. Korea has the strongest EPS growth in emerging markets at about 14.2%, so money should flow into Korean stocks.
Buy index ETFs when unsure.
When the market is chaotic and it is hard to pick individual stocks, Park Se-ik says the best approach is to buy KODEX 200 or TIGER KOSDAQ 150 first, then study and rotate into leading sectors. This captures broad market upside while avoiding stock-selection paralysis.
Tariff-safe shipbuilding and defense attract funds.
If tariff issues shake the Korean market, funds may rotate into tariff-exempt sectors such as shipbuilding and defense, which could see relative strength.
Smaller entertainers trade cheaper than Hive.
Hive trades at a 42x valuation while smaller Korean entertainment peers trade around 18x. If the sector attracts flows, the cheaper SM and YG may outperform Hive on relative valuation.
KOSDAQ rally continues until short squeeze.
The KOSDAQ surged on policy expectations for market revitalization and record institutional ETF buying. Park Se-ik thinks the rally can continue until a short squeeze appears, similar to the 2017-2018 KOSDAQ surge, even if near-term earnings momentum is lacking.
AI demand drives Samsung Electro-Mechanics upside.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics reported a Q4 beat with AI-driven demand lifting components and package solutions, MLCC shortage conditions, and FC-BGA moving toward full utilization. A broker raised the target price to 350,000 won from 275,000 won and called recent weakness a buying opportunity, with robot camera modules as optionality.
Spandex tightness drives Hyosung TNC upside.
Chinese spandex inventory days fell to 29 and producers raised prices, signaling a supply-demand turnaround. Hyosung TNC is the global leader, trades cheaply versus Huafon Chemical, and should benefit as spandex spreads recover from decade lows. Dr. Wang added that the first price hike in years indicates early margin improvement.
Memory costs pressure Xiaomi stock.
Rising memory prices are increasing Xiaomi's costs, and the stock has fallen sharply from its high. The outlook remains poor until memory prices peak and turn lower.
Yanghe earnings and dividend disappoint.
Yanghe's earnings missed with falling prices and volumes, higher marketing expenses, and a reduced dividend payout. Goldman sees further downside, and the stock fell sharply.
Moutai preferred as baijiu inventory bottoms.
Chinese baijiu inventories are at their lowest since 2009-2010 after years of destocking. If investors want baijiu exposure, Kweichow Moutai is the preferred name because of its stability and status, and funds may rotate from weaker names like Yanghe into Moutai.
Big tech earnings support US market.
The US market is not overheated, and rotation into big tech ahead of earnings should support the index. Choi Ho expects a positive day for US stocks.
Tariff threat likely bluff; rebound after adjustment.
Hyundai Motor pulled back after a robot-theme rally and Trump's tariff threat, but its P/E of about 10x is not expensive. Park Se-ik thinks the 25% tariff threat is likely a bluff, so the stock may adjust and then rebound.
